Veeram Tamil Movie Review
Veeram is a 2014 Tamil action comedy film directed by Siva and starring Ajith Kumar and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. The film is a remake of the Telugu film Maryada Ramanna, which itself was inspired by the 1923 American silent movie Our Hospitality. The film revolves around Vinayagam, a brave but violent man who falls in love with a woman from a rival family. The film was a commercial success and received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Vinayagam (Ajith Kumar) is the eldest of five brothers who live in a village and run a tractor business. He is a fearless and loyal person who often resorts to violence to settle disputes. He hates the idea of marriage and does not want his brothers to get married either. However, his brothers secretly have girlfriends and want to marry them. They hatch a plan to make Vinayagam fall in love with a woman named Kopperundevi (Tamannaah Bhatia), who is an art student in the city. They invite her to their village and make Vinayagam believe that she is interested in him.
Meanwhile, Kopperundevi is actually the daughter of Nallasivam (Nassar), the leader of a rival clan who has a long-standing feud with Vinayagam's family. Nallasivam and his sons are waiting for an opportunity to kill Vinayagam and his brothers. Kopperundevi is unaware of this and comes to the village with her friend Divya (Santhanam), who is also Vinayagam's cousin. Vinayagam falls in love with Kopperundevi and decides to marry her. He also agrees to let his brothers marry their girlfriends.
However, things take a turn when Nallasivam and his sons learn about Kopperundevi's relationship with Vinayagam. They plot to kill him during the marriage ceremony. Vinayagam also learns about their true identity and decides to confront them. However, he is bound by a promise he made to Kopperundevi's grandfather (Atul Kulkarni), who saved his life when he was attacked by Nallasivam's men. The promise is that he will not harm anyone from Nallasivam's family as long as he is in their house. Vinayagam has to use his wit and courage to escape from their clutches and protect his family.
